CoCoA 2022
CoCoA: Co-create, Collaborate Activate – Advancing Computational Thinking Education is a Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Discover Programme funded project of which promotes STEM subjects in primary and secondary schools.

CoCoA, promotes engagement in Computational Thinking (CT) as a vehicle to improve scientific problem solving skills through three core activities:
  • Co-creation: we co-create teaching materials through collaboration with in-service and pre-service teachers to produce lesson plans providing both traditional CT tasks and active learning tasks for a classroom setting; guidance notes to teachers; and CT resource books.
  • Collaboration: Our resources facilitate teamwork among peers giving students the mechanisms and language necessary for collaborative problem solving and reflection.
  • Activation: we co-develop active CT games as a way to facilitate active learning.

If you are a teacher in a primary or secondary school interested in working with us to co-create classroom resources, or are interested in using our free resources, please contact us at pact@mu.ie. We can offer FREE day-long school visits running Computational Activities for students and training sessions for teachers.

We can also offer a limited number of places for teachers in our Maynooth on-campus workshops. Places can be secured on a first-come-first served basis by emailing us at pact@mu.ie.
