Introducing the Science of Problem-solving through Education in Computational Thinking (InSPECT) is a Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Discover Programme funded project of which promotes STEM subjects in primary and secondary schools.
In this project, we develop and distribute computational thinking teaching resources including lesson plans and printable workbooks. We also offer activities including school visits, regional meetups, and training workshops for teachers. Our aim is to increase teacher, student, and parent interest and enhance involvement in STEM subjects - especially in computer science.
Our particular interest is to engage with DEIS schools in following counties:
If you are a teacher in a DEIS school in one of these counties, please contact us at
pact@mu.ie for free resources and workshops. We can offer a FREE day-long school visit for the first 100 DEIS primary or secondary schools to contact us from these counties. This visit includes running a Computational Thinking Obstacle Course for pupils and computational thinking training for teaching staff.
We can also offer a limited number of places for other teachers in our Maynooth on-campus workshops. Places can be secured on a first-come-first served basis by emailing us at
pact@mu.ie.
